Our Story

In 2022, Sarma was found darting through Atlanta traffic, a scared and abandoned pup. The surge of COVID rescue dogs had subsided, and shelters were once again overflowing. Rae took Sarma in, discovering she was just about a year old.

Soon, Sarma blossomed and happily joined other pups at daycare.

But picking Sarma up in the afternoons became a challenge. She turned to friends for help—specifically Tori—to ensure Sarma wouldn’t have to endure overnight boarding.

One day, as Rae and Tori navigated the daily logistics of dog care, they both had the same thought: “There should be a business for this.”

Now, there is.

Rae Scherer

Co-Owner & Founder

My connection to animals began on a dairy farm and grew into a lifelong passion for their care. Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked in sales and animal health, including 15 years in the veterinary industry, hands-on experience as a vet tech, and a role with Royal Canin supporting over 180 clinics across Georgia.

I also founded Kirkwood Feed and Seed, a community pet supply store with grooming and self-serve dog wash. Rescuing animals has always been part of my life — including Sarma, our beloved dog mascot.

My work reflects a deep commitment to compassionate care, community, and innovation in animal services.

Victoria Collier

Co-Owner & Founder

I’ve combined my love for animals and lifelong passion for service to build a business that supports dogs and the people who care for them. With over 20 years of experience as a lawyer and business owner, I’ve dedicated my career to helping others thrive — whether they walk on two legs or four.

I live on a small farm with goats, chickens, ducks, and my two Great Pyrenees, Hazel and Ginger. I also share my home with two adopted shelter dogs, Almond and Elf. I’m a lifelong dog lover and a published author, and I was honored to contribute a chapter about my late rescue dog, Joey Guacamole, to Dog Joy.

Marketing and Social Media

I'm originally from Bogotá, Colombia, and grew up around the world thanks to my dad's work, spending time in Africa and the U.S. I've always been surrounded by animals — from rescue dogs and rabbits to turtles and even hermit crabs. I now live in Bogotá with my senior rescue dog and two adopted cats.

I'm working on launching a charity to raise awareness and provide free vaccines for cats with leukemia in underserved areas. I also have a deep love for art, design, and marketing, which I bring into my creative and professional work.
